Let the Dropbox IPO speculation commence.

Dropbox, the cloud storage service, announced late Wednesday that it has brought on Vanessa Wittman to take over as the company's new chief financial officer. She replaces Sujay Jaswa who had served in the role since 2010.

Wittman had most recently held the CFO role at Motorola Mobility, where Dropbox COO Dennis Woodside also worked; before that, she was CFO of Marsh & McLennan Companies.

By recruiting a CFO with experience working at public companies -- a common move for businesses looking to IPO -- Dropbox will likely reignite speculation over the timing for when it may go public.

"As our CFO, Vanessa will lead our financial operations to support our growth around the world," Dropbox CEO Drew Houston wrote in a blog post announcing the hire. "The amazing talent and breadth of experience she brings, along with the values she shares with our leadership team, make her a perfect fit."

Houston has deflected questions about an IPO before, noting as recently as last year that it would likely happen "eventually," but that Dropbox had raised more than enough money to put it off. The company has raised more than $1 billion in funding and debt financing to date, and reportedly has a valuation of $10 billion.

Box, another cloud storage service that is focused more on the enterprise space, went public last month after putting off its IPO due to poor market conditions. The stock is currently trading around $20 a share, well above its IPO price of $14.
