There was no room at the inn for one drunk driver in Tadcaster, North Yorkshire.

An intoxicated man driving a mini cooper was apprehended by the North Yorkshire Police after crashing his Mini Cooper into a steel barrier on the A659. The man had attempted to evade the police by hiding in a manger scene, amid the hay and shepherds and baby Jesus.

The police tweeted about the not-so-silent night shortly afterwards.

Naturally, such bizarre news prompted some quips and puns from the Twitterverse that would make any dad-joke enthusiast proud.

@NYorksRPG Suggest you charge him with Mangerous Driving.— Steven Burkeman (@stevenburkeman) December 13, 2015

Even Sgt. Paul Cording, of the Roads Policing Group, joined in with a few puns of his own.

"Gold" star to my @NYorksRPG colleagues as one "myrrh" drink driver with no (frankin)"cense" is taken off the road https://t.co/zbB2vLrDnz— Paul Cording (@OscarRomeo1268) December 12, 2015

So remember, please don't drink and drive.
