Though Vince McKelvie and Chuck Anderson come from very different backgrounds, they share an affinity for wild, chaotic composition, texture and color. Vince's expertise in programming with experimental and conceptual art perfectly complements Chuck's vivid, illustrative graphic design style. Their bodies of work come together in Electrical Pulse, an immersive and interactive digital terrain, a surreal world dreamt up by Vince.Check out Electrical Pulse here.“My natural desire to make things — I love using my hands and getting what’s in my head out on the screen,” says Chuck, who normally designs for print and was thus excited to work on a more interactive project. Chuck crafted whimsical, colorful designs, to which Vince infused motion and dynamism before planting the art in his animated world.
"Chuck's work has motion to it, so it feels very natural to incorporate his work into my piece," says Vince, who programmed the “cyberpunk” site with Shaders in Three.js.McKelvie capitalized on the Intel-powered 2-in-1’s portability, touch functionality and accelerometer, programming his GIF world to respond to rotations of the tablet for added interactivity. As you tumble through the world of their making, you’ll encounter broken bones, knotted cables, skulls, distorted UI elements, muscle tissue and more – human nature and technology have weirdly converged and exploded on the screen for users on explore by hovering and clicking. Blooms grow and shrink and become more complex based on the user’s cursor. The scene comes to life as you tinker with their cursors and explore the page.
