A Canadian family turned around a potentially heartbreaking situation when they rescued four ducklings from a storm sewer.

The quick-thinking Dodds family set out to rescue the young ducks after witnessing their fall through a storm grate on the street near their home in Regina, Saskatchewan, CBC reports.

When Dennis Dodds' daughter ran to him for help, he attached a butterfly net to a hockey stick and managed to lift the four ducks out of the sewer below.

Dodds' children Ceiligh, Connor and Seamus all assisted in the rescue, from researching the best course of action after rescuing wild ducks to capturing the whole experience on camera.

Soon after the ducklings were safely corralled into a water-filled bucket, an adult duck wandered by. The Dodds family released the ducklings on their lawn and the adult duck quickly swept them under her wings.

Though the bird family spent time living in a neighboring yard, the ducks have since moved on with their adorable little lives.
