Now they're pushing out an interactive website and iPhone app to drive home the web to store connection. Dunkin' Run, launched today, is a new mobile web and mobile option to coordinate and collect group orders for "runs" to the coffee and donut chain.
Dunkin' Run works exactly the same whether you're using the web or mobile interface, or your iPhone [iTunes link]. After creating an account, simply start a run by specifying the time and additional run invitees (use their email or mobile number), then select your order from the onsite or in-app menu. Group participants will then get a notification to place their order, and you can use the site or app to get a complete list of orders.
The Dunkin Run application does everything but place the orders for you — which would be pretty darn awesome — so you can gauge interest from colleagues or friends, easily collect an accurate list of electronic orders from the complete menu of drinks and food items, and make sure you always walk away from the store with the appropriate goodies in hand.
Additional app features include the ability to keep track of past orders, store your favorite menu items for quicker access, receive run reminders and cancellation notices, and connect to Facebook to display your run status (though that almost seems like it could attract too much attention).
Of course we see more opportunities for social media tie-ins, but we do think it's a fine initial effort to better facilitate trips to Dunkin' Donuts and reinforce their online efforts with offline purchases.
