This is a trend that I think we'll have to call eBayquisition - startups auctioning themselves off in public view.

Actually, it's not a great label for the sale of FeedYes this week, since the feed-based startup isn't on eBay at all - the auction seems to be on the site itself. The minimum bid is $20,000. They claim 50,000-60,000 daily feed views and 500 daily pageviews on the site, which launched in March 2006. FeedYES has spoken to Netvibes and others about acquisition, but no deal was reached. The company is one of many services that create RSS feeds from pages that don't have them - confusingly, it's particularly popular for creating feeds from eBay listings.

Other services that have attempted to sell themselves via auction recently include Feedostyle, Kiko, Shoutcentral and Mojungle.
