LONDON --British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran announced he's taking a break from social media.
Sharing a text post on Instagram over the weekend, Sheeran spoke of how he's found himself "seeing the world through a screen" which has lead him to switch off from his phone, emails and social media "for a while".
"I'm taking this opportunity of me not having anything to do or anything to travel the world and see everything I've missed" Sheeran writes. "To my family and friends, if you love me you will understand me buggering off for a bit, to my fans, the 3rd album is on its way and is the best thing I have made thus far."

Sheeran's departure follows other celebrities making the decision to move away from the online world, including Lena Dunham and Instagram star Essena O'Neil.
By contrast, Taylor Swift, Kendall Jenner, Selena Gomez and Beyonce continue their social media reigns earning themselves a spot on Instagram's Most Liked Posts of 2015 list.
