Most people aren't taught how to tie a tie in school. They learn it from a parent, YouTube or, if they’re lucky enough, a friendly stranger on the subway.

A photo that spread around the Internet this weekend shows an elderly man teaching a younger man how to tie a tie while waiting for a train. The photo, uploaded to Facebook by Redd Desmond Thomas of Atlanta, Georgia, has since been liked more than 494,000 times and shared nearly 150,000 times.

In the post, Thomas explains that the young guy was trying to tie his tie while waiting for the train. A woman then tapped her husband for help.

“Come here and teach this young man how to tie his tie,” she apparently said.

Her husband then proceeded to walk over to the man, and give him a “step-by-step” tutorial. After learning the steps, the young man repeated them to show that he had, in fact, learned the process.
