Elements: A Flickr, Twitter and Tumblr Hybrid?

Elements feels like a cross between Flickr's interestingness, Twitter's follow features and Tumblr's content submission, with a focus on sharing inspirational content. Users can explore Elements' recommended content, tell the system that they "like" items in order to view similar content, follow other users, upload or clip images and quotes, and see which other members like the same stuff.

The central focus of the site hinges around liking/creating elements and casting them out to your network. Elements uses your "likes" to learn your preferences for enhanced exploring. Should you go a step further and cast an item, you can share it with your followers on the site, email contacts, or use the Add This add-on to send to other social sites.

Sharing inspirational material is made incredibly easy and users can opt to upload their own images, clip them from the web (with credit of course), or say something awe-worthy in 108 characters or less.

There are some definite bonuses to ease you into the new service. You can find common friends to follow from Gmail or Twitter, grab the bookmarklet to clip images or quotes as you browse, and recast (think "retweet") elements to your network. There a few oddities too, like the absence of comments and theme customization that only applies to how others view your profile.

All in all it's a mixed bag service that leaves us with mixed reactions and may serve only a select few.
