Happy 80th Birthday, Elvis: Spotify's 'Elvisualization' maps his impact

Spotify, like most music lovers on Thursday, is celebrating what would have been Elvis Presley's 80th birthday. This year, the streaming service created two slick tools to help users explore the King's influence on countless artists, both new and old.

1. Elvisualization audiographic

This interactive visualization charts the "Blue Suede Shoes" singer's impact on the music industry, showing how current artists, such as Taylor Swift and Bruno Mars, were influenced by other artists who were somehow influenced by Elvis.

Head to the website, and click on any name to hear a sample of that artist's music.

2. The Elvis Influence web app

If you're too lazy to sift through the Elvisualization map, use this simple web app instead. Type in a name of any artist -- try your favorite artist -- and it'll specifically tell you how that artist was influenced by Elvis. For example, One Direction was influenced by Take That, which was influenced by the Bee Gees, which were influenced by Elvis.
