Digital production company Digital Domain Media Group -- which brought the life-sized digital Tupac to life for a performance with Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre at Coachella in April -- has partnered with Core Media Group to resurrect the "King of Rock 'n' Roll" as a computer-generated human.

The companies have yet to say when and where people will see CG Elvis perform.

"This is a new and exciting way to bring the magic and music of Elvis Presley to life," says Jack Soden, CEO of Elvis Presley Enterprises, which is one of Core's properties. "His lifelong fans will be thrilled all over again and new audiences will discover the electric experience of Elvis the performer."

If this all sounds familiar, you may remember when Celine Dion sang a duet with a virtual Elvis during an American Idol episode in 2007 (see below).

To generate that performance, producers used "rotoscoping" -- the process in which something or someone is traced from original footage, cut out and placed into a new sequence. American Idol is one of Core's properties alongside the Muhammad Ali and So You Think You Can Dance brands.
