Find Your Vital Gmail With a Google Search

Google is inviting you to be part of a field trial to test some new features which sync its products to an even more intuitive degree.

Do a regular Google Search and it will pull information from your Gmail and Google Drive, allowing you to find what information you're looking for faster. This sync-up lets you do a Google search for things like your dinner reservations and items you ordered online.

Now, if you search for an item you purchased and sent the shipping information to your gmail account, you'll now see that information in your search results.

Google posted several examples of what this will look like:

"So now instead of digging through your email, you can find a lot more useful information from your Gmail when you search on Google.com," wrote Google in a blog post on Thursday.

"For example, in addition to searching for [my flights], you can now search for [my purchases] to see a list of recent online purchases from select merchants and track the packages to see if they’ve arrived yet."

You can now use brackets for your search and start with "my," like [my hotel reservation], [my restaurant reservations], or [my purchases].

Google's products -- Google+, Gmail, Google Search -- are made to work together. So, much like when you check a box to have sites remember your password, Google is taking a step out of searching your gmail inbox.

Google writes that it aims to make the search experience consistant across Android and iPhone. You can also use this new feature on your smartphone when SSL is on by default, which includes iOS 6 and the search box on the home screen for Jelly Bean devices.
