After nixing plans for Wizard of Oz-inspired drama Emerald City back in August, NBC has decided to give the project another shot at success.

The network Wednesday again picked up the series, this time helmed by David Schulner (Do No Harm, The Event), for a 10 episode order.

Josh Friedman (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles) had previously led the project, which is in part inspired by L. Frank Baum’s novels.

The series centers on a 20-year-old Dorothy and her K9 police dog, who are transported to a land with magic, rival kingdoms and bloody battles.

It's not entirely yet clear how the reworking of the series will impact the overall look and feel, but previously, the best idea of what was in store came via advertising-covered buses that NBC sponsored at Comic-Con 2014.

(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = "//connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v2.3"; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);}(document, 'script', 'facebook-jssdk'));Posted by Emerald City NBC on Thursday, July 24, 2014

NBC announced the project's cancellation about one month after the annual convention.

The network has seemingly been all over the yellow brick road lately. Just two weeks ago, they announced Oz-retelling The Wiz as its next live musical.
