Will the real sweetheart please stand up?

Marshall Mathers, a.k.a. Eminem, has always looked up to the legendary rap icons who came before him -- namely Tupac (a.k.a. 2Pac) Shakur, whose career was tragically cut short when he was killed in 1996.

Eminem wrote a heartfelt note to Tupac's mother, Afeni, some years after the rapper's death, though it's not entirely clear when. Nevertheless, Eminem had some wonderfully nice things to say.

"You are a true Queen, and I mean that in every sense of the word," Eminem wrote to Shakur, adding, "You have no idea how much your son and his music has inspired…my whole career. He was and still is the true definition of a Soldier."

Eminem also included an impressive drawing of 'Pac with his note.

Photos of these artifacts were recently rediscovered when they were posted on Imgur July 9.

Shady Records, Eminem's record label, confirmed with Complex that the note and drawing are real. Copies are published in the book Tupac Remembered and are also on display at the Tupac Amaru Shakur Center for the Arts in Stone Mountain, Georgia, according to the image's caption.
