If you have a smartphone, chances are you've desired an emoji that doesn't exist. Now the emoji powers that be are listening.
Unicode, the nonprofit organization the governs the Unicode Standard, is recommending 38 new emoji to be included in version 9.0, which will eventually makes it way to iOS, Android and other mail and messaging platforms.
Although it's uncertain which of the 38 -- if any -- will be officially selected, the recommendations (first reported by Yahoo Tech) give us hope at creative, quirky conversations in 2016. Based on suggestions requested by the Internet, the list includes bacon, a lying face (with a Pinocchio-like nose), two fist-pump options (left and right-handed), a potato, a dancing man and a shark.
The news of potential Unicode 9.0 emoji comes just one month before version 8.0 is expected to debut. The organization previously teased a picture of a taco emoji and a list of other emoji, including a nerd and thinking face, new sports symbols (volleyball and tennis) and religious additions (prayer beads, mosque, synagogue and so on).
