We all know that emoji are perfect for, well ... emoting.

So, why not use the emotional power of the little symbols to recreate the tone and mood of famous movie posters? Film posters could probably stand to be a little more texting-friendly.

One Tumblr, called Emoji Films, is doing just that. Using nothing but actual emoji, this Tumblr user attempts to create minimalist versions of those iconic movie posters we know and love.

Everything becomes pretty literal in emoji form, but Emoji Films still manages to get the point across. The poster for E.T. is a moon and a bike. The poster for Trainspotting is just one dripping syringe. And the Force Majeure poster becomes a man fleeing from a pair of skis.

Overly simplified? Maybe. Do they get the point across? Definitely.
