LG15 Creators Get $5 Million to Make More Shows

LG15 and KateModern will go down in history as two of the definitive forms of integrated social entertainment, combining the YouTube and the MySpace crowds for a uniquely successful experiment in interactive media. With a leap into the mainstream media as a result, the creators of these teen drama series, Miles Beckett and Greg Goodfried, found a way to bring acceptance into the realm of low budget content made for the web.

While LG15 and KateModern may be a bit melodramatic for my taste, I recognize that their success helped launch other series like Prom Queen and quarterlife, which was eventually picked up by NBC. With all the companies out there creating their own production firm for made-for-web video content, I'm surprised that Beckett and Goodfried haven't done this sooner, but today is the official launch of EQAL, the social entertainment company that's dedicated to making interactive content to be distributed across networks and platforms alike.
