MySpace clones are abundant these days, but most of them have the advantage that they're not quite as ugly and unusable as MySpace itself. That's not the case with eSocialLife.com, a new social network from I.Q. Webquest that launches in beta today.

The unique angle - if there is one - is that eSocialLife will help enable professional networking via password protected private conference areas. Aside from that, it's your typical MySpace clone with a little more ugly thrown in: a black and purple interface and profile pages that are even less structured than those on MySpace (if that's even possible). It has a few redeeming features: some nice animated photo albums, support for custom backgrounds and (I assume) MySpace layouts, and some useful ajaxy sliders. ESocialLife also has its own equivalents of MySpace Music and MySpace Video: stupidly, these use Windows Media Player, which causes major compatibility issues. In fact, problems with the design and layout just get worse the deeper you delve. So stop delving.

If the success of your social network is dictated by how many usability issues it has (and judging by MySpace's success, that might be true), then eSocialLife is in a league of its own. Astounding.
