This miniature book fits a world of history into one finger-sized package.
Denver-based illustrator Evan Lorenzen created The Mini Book of Major Events, a hand-sewn book barely larger than a pencil eraser. The short, seven-page book pairs events and discoveries in history with small illustrations, including the discovery of fire and the Black Plague. It even imagines a future in which humans make first contact with alien life forms.
The Mini Book of Major Events isn't Lorenzen's first foray into miniature bookmaking -- previously he illustrated The Little Book of Big Ideas, which features tiny illustrations of mind-boggling concepts, like war, love and infinity.
Lorenzen told Mashable that his goal is to create the tiniest book possible. Though The Mini Book of Major Events is his smallest yet, he believes he can cut his next book down to half size. The process is tiring, but Lorenzen said he enjoys watching others pore over his teensy works of literature.
"Once they do get a good grip on it, the book seems to become extremely precious and fragile because it can easily get destroyed with something as simple as a sneeze," he said. "For me, it's most rewarding to see people sucked into these miniature worlds while also having to fumble with the idea of being delicate."
