The 4-versus-1 competitive shooter Evolve is cranking out more characters for players to pick from, along with a distinct game mode solely for competitive play.

While 'Evolve' fans knew more hunters were in the works, 2K Games shared the line-up additions Thursday morning. Players can now pick from cyborg-like Torvuld for the Assault class; a spooky-looking trapper named Crow, complete with a mutant bat pet to track monsters; Slim, a medic that seems to be more insect than man; and Sunny, a support character equipped with drones to help her teammates.

When the new hunters are released, players will also get their hands on the newest monster, Behemoth, who can roll through environments at higher levels. The monster had already been announced to players prior to the game's launch.

This "observer" mode is ideal for broadcast on live, in-person events or streaming services like Twitch, allowing a sixth player to act as a director and find the most interesting perspectives for viewers. This is advantageous for viewers who would normally tune into one player's stream and be stuck watching that player's point of view for the whole game.

While Evolve has only been out for about a month, publisher 2K Games is touting it at competitive events. There were pro-am matches of Evolve at PAX East in Boston and a tournament set up as a tie-in to the film Chappie's release.

Evolve developers Turtle Rock showed off observer mode in a match. This new mode and the new characters will roll out to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on March 31.
