Quick Pitch: An app that helps you track the price of items you've bought or want to buy.

Genius Idea: Notifies you if an item you've purchased goes on sale, so you can get a price adjustment.

Add this to your list of shopping companions: Eyeona, an app for iPhone and Android smartphones, lets you scan your receipts and sends you an email if the price drops on anything you've purchased.

The app only works with supporting retailers, a sizable list that includes heavyweights like Amazon.com, Best Buy, Bloomingdale's, Costco, Ikea and Macy's.

In addition to obtaining price adjustments, you can also create a wish list of things you'd like to buy, and opt to be notified via e-mail if one of those items drops below your target price (as an example, I set a target price of $30 for a skirt I found at Anthropologie). You can add an item to your list by scanning its barcode, or searching the inventories of supporting retailers.
