When Facebook introduced Timeline for Pages, it gave brands a greater opportunity to connect with their audiences. One of Facebook’s most helpful new features, the Admin Panel, is a one-stop shop for the tools and tips brands need to manage this connection.

1. Notifications

The insights panel is a great way to instantly see how your content is affecting brand activity on your page. The purple bar indicates how many times you post content per day, and the green and blue bars communicate how those posts are affecting your audience, in terms of creating impressions and leading conversations.

This information shows brands how to create content that their audiences will identify with -- an incredibly valuable tool. For more details about what content is most effective for your audience, check out the “see more” button on the upper right-hand corner.

4. Messages

Private messages are arguably the most valuable new service Facebook provides for brands. Messaging allows your fans to reach out privately, which is a great way for your brand to address customer service issues. Messaging is also a great tool for B2B companies, as it allows your brand to engage prospects on a more intimate level.

5. Manage

The manage tab on the upper right-hand side of the admin panel serves as a go-to for all things maintenance. From here, visit the edit page to change your page visibility by country and age restrictions, moderate the level of profanity allowed on your page, and manage who can post, who can tag, and who can affect your posts’ visibility. Furthermore, you can vary settings by page, which is a great way to tailor your page to your audience. For example, limiting page visibility by age might be a smart move for alcoholic beverage brands.

In the manage tool, the activity log lets you go back in time to see what you’ve posted on your page. It shows the post’s visibility as well as the date, time and who posted it. The banned users tool displays Facebook users who aren’t allowed to view your page. A build audience button directly adjacent to the manage button is a fast, easy way to create Facebook ads, premium ads and sponsored stories.
