The tool, which lives at CNN.com/FBInsights, displays a slick layout of maps, charts and other visualizations to show how many people are talking about President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden, as well as Republication candidates Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan. You can then sort the analysis by state, gender, region and time period.

The data hub uses Facebook's Page Insights tool and its "People Talking About This" measurement combined with mentions across the social network to measure how much buzz candidates are generating on a given day. The information which is gathered with the help of social integration platform Mass Relevance, will also be used on CNN broadcast shows during the campaign.

"Facebook is naturally a place where friends engage in political discourse, and we’re pleased to announce that the Facebook-CNN Election Insights tool will offer an interactive, real-time glimpse into how and where this conversation is taking place across the country," Elliot Schrage, Facebook's vice president of corporate communications and public policy, said in a press release.

This is not, however, Facebook and CNN's first partnership during the 2012 campaign season. Last week, they launched an app called "I'm Voting," which allows users to share their opinions about candidates and campaign issues using Facebook's Open Graph.
