Morin focused on Facebook's recent changes to pages and the real-time user home page, as well as mentioning that they're primarily interested in building and improving the real-time stream.

The biggest Facebook news, however, is that Facebook Connect, with more than 6,000 websites already taping into user data, has come to the iPhone. Now all iPhone developers can use Facebook Connect to have their apps leverage the profile, friends, and feed data available for users via Facebook. The glorious advantage for all of us users is that now we can connect with our Facebook network while playing or using our favorite apps and games.

Facebook Connect for iPhone has some pretty awesome apps launching or updating today that leverage the power of the 175 million user strong social network. Facebook-ready apps include Playfish's popular, Who Has the Biggest Brain? ($4.99 via iTunes), Tap Tap Revenge 2 (free via iTunes), Movies by Flixster (free via iTunes), SGN's Agency Wars (lite version free via iTunes), and Urbanspoon (free via iTunes). Now users can play against their Facebook friends, get a constant stream of the movies friends are watching, and are pretty much only limited by how developers envision and tweak the integration to fit with their apps.

Whrrl, which we recently wrote about, was one of the first apps to launch with the Facebook Connect integration, and I can say from first hand experience that it just makes sense for location-aware applications to make it easier for us to connect and find our pre-existing Facebook relationships.

Another big piece of news coming from Facebook is that Seesmic has created the first desktop client for Facebook's more robust status updates (ie The Publisher updates) available now and it works exactly like Twhirl (which has been downloaded more than 1.1 million times). In fact, Loic Le Meur, Seesmic Founder, told me that within the next two weeks they'll be furiously working to fully integrate the Facebook desktop app, which runs on Adobe AIR, with Twhirl for one universal user experience. You can read more about the client in Le Meur's post on the app.
