Update: Facebook says a power issue in one of its data centers was to blame.
We're getting reports today of extended downtime at Facebook, the social network that reported unprecendented growth in recent weeks. Up until now, it's been the applications plugging in to Facebook that have buckled under the load: now it seems that Facebook itself is struggling to cope.
We ignored the first mail on this, and assumed that once the front page came back up an hour ago, it'd be all clear. But with 15 complaints in our mailbox, and the site still not loading beyond the login page, it seems that Facebook has hit its first speed bump.
