Facebook will be holding an event at its headquarters later this afternoon and all signs indicate that the company will be making a significant announcement.

Yesterday, we asked Mashable readers to opine on what they think Facebook will be announcing and the responses ran the gamut from plausible to outlandish to just plain bizarre. As always, we really appreciate your input.

By and large, most readers responded that they think Facebook will be announcing Skype integration and the launch of video chat. Here at Mashable, we're leaning towards the Skype and video chat theory, too.

However, there are always lots of other options. Facebook is a company that hasn't been afraid of launching new features or radically changing its design overnight.

In addition to video chat, some of the other common responses included:

The general launch of Facebook Questions (as liamdaly pointed out in the comments)

A broader expansion of Facebook Places (a few readers also suggested a Foursquare acquisition may be in the works)

Facebook for iPad

The Facebook Phone

Aaron Sorkin: The Movie (thanks Danny Skarka)

A Groupon clone (Samir) -- hey, everyone else is doing it, why not!
