Facebook's IPO Likely in the $5 Billion Range

Facebook is expected to file for a $5 billion initial public offering later today. It was previously reported that the IPO will be in the $10 billion range, but new reports claim the company has decided to start conservatively. Even at $5 billion, the IPO will be one of the biggest in IT history.

Sony names Kazuo Hirai New President and CEO

Kazuo Hirai has replaced Howard Stringer as Sony‘s new CEO and president, the company has announced. Sony has been on a losing streak in the past couple of years, and Hirai has a hard task of putting the Japanese consumer electronics giant back on the right track again.

EFF and Carpathia Hosting Help Megaupload Users Retrieve Their Data

The Electronic Frontier Foundation and Carpathia Hosting have launched MegaRetrieval, a site that aims to assist Megaupload users who are unable to access their data from the service.

Megaupload founder Kim Dotcom and six others who ran the site were indicted by the U.S. Department of Justice in January. The site's assets are frozen, and its users currently cannot access their data, hosted on the service.
