Greetings from Facebook HQ in Menlo Park, Calif., where we're about to find out the meaning of the social network's "new home on Android." Follow along, below.
There's been a barrage of speculation about a "Facebook phone" -- and while a new and very basic HTC handset with Facebook apps does appear to be on the cards, the event is really about putting a fresh spin on Facebook's whole mobile strategy.
So will we see a Facebook OS? A layer that handset makers and carriers can put on top of their Android systems? If so, what advantage will that bring? How compelling is it to have an always-on Facebook connection, front and center on your phone? Is Mark Zuckerberg about to do an end run around Google?
