Facebook Needs More Servers!

To handle its never-ending growth, Facebook has leased space in a new data center in Ashburn, Virginia. The lease, signed on October 15, names DuPont Fabros Technology (DFT) as the provider of the space, but does not list a name for the tenant.

So how did the world find out that it was Facebook? DFT reported it in a presentation to investors, as DFT is preparing for an IPO. With other clients like Yahoo and MySpace, DFT isn't doing too badly for itself. The space which Facebook has leased is only about half the amount for the building, but gives Facebook plenty of room to keep on growing, should it want to lease the rest of the space available.

And to our knowledge, no additional shares of Facebook were sold in order to pay for this lease. ;)
