Celebrity spotting is one of the perks of New York City, but for every Ryan Gosling, there’s a “hmm, who’s that? He looks familiar.” You know, the reality TV personality or random Joe that just looks famous-like.

Brett Cohen decided to test our celebrity obsession by enlisting the help of a faux entourage to pretend he had Hollywood hotshot status. Brett and his crew descended on Times Square where admirers swarmed him for photos, despite not knowing why he was of any note.

By the end of the social experiment, Brett had posed for photographs with 300 people. Although, no one seemed to question the most perplexing thing about this supposed celebrity spotting -- why would anyone recognizable ever hang out in Times Square?
