The farce is strong with this one.

Mark Hamill, erstwhile Jedi Knight and voice actor, was due to do a Q&A on Reddit Wednesday (also known as an AMA or Ask Me Anything). But a fake Hamill began an AMA of his own minutes before the real Hamill arrived on the site -- one that suckered hundreds of Redditors into believing it was the real deal.

The fake Hamill's answers were deleted within minutes, but not before he got in some advanced-level trolling. Here, he tells Reddit that not only is he in Star Wars: Episode VII, but so are some rather surprising members of another science-fiction franchise:

The real Hamill began his AMA some moments later, and balance was restored to the Force. Here, he is proving his bona fides with the help of a banana, a popular in-joke on Reddit:

Naturally, the real Hamill was also asked whether he, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford would be returning for Episode VII, as has been widely reported. His response suggests he's holding the Lucasfilm line:

"The only character I know for sure is returning is my friend R2-D2. He hasn’t stopped beeping about it."

R2-D2 is indeed the only character whose presence in the movie has been officially announced. He'll be built by amateur Artoo builders based in the UK.

The filming of Episode VII, with or without Hamill, will commence in the UK this May.
