Famiva is a family social networking and family-tree building tool that has recently launched.

Famiva lets you easily add family members and friends to your tree, and send an email invite to anyone in your tree that is not yet a member. This function is similar to Geni, and I'm wondering if Famiva will automatically connect related members based on previously entered and corroborated information, as Geni will do. The content that is accessible to you is based on what your family tree members have added, so in this sense it operates like a private group. The "stories" function acts like a family blog, and you can insert videos from Google and Yahoo into your entries. This ability to add media is also enabled for calendar entries and events.

Famiva is very similar to KinCafe in its functionality and purpose. In order to stand out from the crowd, Famiva can add on new social features as they grow, focusing on tools that would would be used by a family. Enabling the "stories" tool to be formatted as a scrapbook that can be published into a physical book is often considered a value-added tool for family-oriented services. Bringing in more social features, such as widgets or contact managers would appeal to the avid online networkers using Famiva.
