Approximately 70 million troops served as part of the Allied Forces during World War II. The massive deployment included actors, authors, musicians and athletes, who all served their country in a time of need.
The war affected not only those who were on the ground, but also people working in factories to create products to aid the troops. Many left their families behind, risking their lives to join the front lines.
