Today's forecast? Cloudy with a chance of pencil dresses.

Female meteorologists geniously and hilariously banded together via Facebook group to create an unofficial uniform for their jobs: a "Stretch Tunic Pencil Sheath Dress" sold on Amazon for $23.

The dress, which comes in a variety of colors, was seen on at least 50 weather reports across the country. Jennifer Myers, a meteorologist from Dallas, Texas, posted a collage to Reddit showing several of the women sporting the ensemble.

Shelby Hays, a meteorologist from Oklahoma, tells Tech Insider that female meteorologists are "subject to a strict dress code," which shuns patterns and regulates sleeve length to be conducive to being on-air (and in front of a green screen), so the women offer fashion advice within their Facebook group.

"Someone stumbled onto 'the dress' and a few of us ordered it and shared pics of it on air in our group. Everyone saw how great it looked," Hays said. "At $23 we could buy a handful of these dresses for what we normally pay for just one."

Unfortunately, most colors and sizes of the dress are sold out until after Christmas, so you'll have to put your dream of dressing like a meteorologist on hold.

Reporters of the world, thoughts on making onesies our unofficial uniform?
