Yahoo's location-based platform, Fire Eagle, is now releasing its service to developers, by invitation only, at ETech today. The open location services platform, built on Ruby on Rails, has been testing in alpha since last year. The launch date has been delayed by several weeks, but now the platform is available to more select developers, in addition to those that had been working with Yahoo prior to the company's initial announcement of the upcoming platform in November, 2007.
