LONDON -- A fire truck was stolen from a station and smashed into cars and houses in Larne, Northern Ireland, in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The truck tore down the street at high speed with lights flashing. It hit at least eight parked cars and crashed into the front yard of a house.

Two men have been arrested in connection with the incident, Northern Irish police said. The BBC said their ages were 66 and 19.

In scenes that looked like something out of Grand Theft Auto, the truck was crashed on Glenarm Road around 4:30 a.m., leaving cars and houses damaged in its wake. The fire station was also damaged. It is understood that no one was injured.

A Press Association reporter took photos of the aftermath.

East Antrim assembly member Gordon Lyons said: "They have been putting lives at risk by their behaviour. So we can only hope that they will understand what they have done has been very selfish and very dangerous indeed."
