FireAnt, the vlog directory that started out as a desktop application for playing, downloading and subscribing to video podcasts/vlogs, is being acquired by SonicMountain.
The purchase price for FireAnt was not disclosed, but has been reported at being a somewhat modest, in the mid six-figures. SonicMountain is the same company that bought the assets of podcasting search and creation tool, Odeo . The two services (FireAnd and Odeo) will now be combined to some degree, which makes perfect sense.
The relaunching of Odeo (with FireAnt functions) is scheduled to launch in December as an audio and video podcast player and community. Considering the many ways in which video and audio are being rolled together for personal broadcasting tools, along with chat and other multimedia options, it's rather useful that these two niche services are being incorporated in order to provide a single service.
