A high-speed train derailed near Strasbourg on Saturday, plunging into a canal and leaving at least five people dead in France.
The train derailed near the village of Eckwersheim, just north of Strasbourg near the German border, and according to French news outlet Paris Match, the journey was a test run.
The crash comes as the country is still reeling from a terrorist attack in Paris on Friday that left at least 127 people dead and dozens more injured. No connection has been made between the two events.
Aurelien Poivret, who was at the scene shortly after the crash, said officials made it clear there was no connection to terrorism.
