The feature, which was first launched on Flipboard's app for iPhone and iPod touch devices, pulls up stories that are determined to be most relevant to readers and the people they care most about. The more readers use the tool, the more accurate it becomes, Flipboard CEO Mike McCue says.

In addition, Flipboard launched a native French edition [iTunes link] as part of its continued international expansion. Readers of Flipboard in the U.K., Canada, Australia, Ireland, France, Hong Kong and Taiwan can also access country-specific content guides for the first time with sources tailroed to their language and location. A content guide for Japan is intended to launch later this month.

A few cosmetic changes were also included in the iPad app update. Images on cover stories can be pulled up as full-bleed photographs, overlaid -- rather than captioned by -- typography, making Flipboard appear even more magazine-like than before. The company also expanded the number of content tiles to 32 , and now allows users to adjust font sizes and add specific Google Reader folders -- rather than their entire Google Reader feeds -- to the app.

First-time users will have a different launch experience than their predecessors. Now, Flipboard encourages users select topics to get started.
