The business world has its share of web-based collaborative tools, and the number is increasing for the casual, socially interactive web-based groups as well. While some social networks naturally lend themselves to a combined effort for the creation of a greater media entity, such as the "Photos of Me Added By Others" feature on Facebook, it's clear that the trend for collaborative media for individuals is just beginning to warm up.
Kaltura is one of the more recent to offer collaborative tools for the creation of a shared-media product, and now Fliptrack has jumped back on the scene to offer similar tools. Titled the new "Friendship Slide Shows," this new feature from the Photobucket competitor lets a user create a slide show and then invite friends or the public to copy and edit the original. Others can then add and edit photos, themes, effects and music, essentially allowing them to make their own versions of the original (meaning the original can stay intact).

This wiki-like approach to Fliptrack gets the best of both worlds, as it allows the creator to retain their original product, but still extending the ability to others for the modification and retention of their own creation, which can then be saved to their personal account (and not a shared access account).
