It should be said that Flixwagon’s isn’t virgin to major media outlets. Its ties to MTV, for instance, go back to January, when it helped manage political coverage via a series of Nokia N95 devices commandeered by MTV Street Team members during moments of Super Tuesday. Yet that appeared more of a pilot project than true coming out for Flixwagon in its efforts to woo big business into partnerships. Its announcement this week of a “field-proven solution for leading carriers to enable live video broadcasting to their subscribers,” is really the service’s time to hit it big.
As for the features given to carriers and media outfits, Flixwagon is promising:
- Field-proven, telco-grade, scalable platform that can support any number of simultaneous live broadcasts and concurrent video streams.
- Reliability amid network disruptions.
- Easily customizable mobile app, Web, and user interface.
- Email, SMS, RSS, and social network alerts to inform viewers about new broadcasts, as well as location-based notifications.
