A regular diet of caviar doesn't make you immune to the pleasures of greasy pizza.

Recently, New York Times restaurant critic Pete Wells reviewed the Times Square branch of Mexico-based chain restaurant Señor Frog’s, known for fluorescent drink-fueled conga lines — not necessarily for its impeccable food. Much to his surprise, Wells "had more fun at Señor Frog’s than at almost any other restaurant that has opened in the last few years."

He said the chili "does just what you want it to do for the thick, juicy hot dog," and the Reuben sandwich is "good, for some reason."

Though Wells doesn't award it any stars. He says the chicken enchiladas "should have been sent back to Cancún," and notes the restaurant's service is lacking. But the review still circles around a mostly positive, jovial tone.

Wells' takeaway is there is a time for fine dining and there is a time for fun, so why not enjoy both?

You had me at "frogasm" @pete_wells review of Senor Froggy's shows contrary to @GuyFieri's whining Wells is no snob. https://t.co/eIsyD7JP04— ElissaSchappell (@ElissaSchappell) December 30, 2015
