Foonz Launches Mobile Phone Conferencing via SMS

Foonz, the phone-conferencing service provider, has launched its mobile service for cell phones.

You can now set up a group phone conference via SMS directly through your cell phone. There's no pre-registration required, and lets you work independently of the Internet, should you need to get a group of people on a call at the same time. Send a text message to foonz and you'll get a text message back with the phone numbers of the people listed in your foonz groups. Pick who you'd like to invite to the conference call and they'll all receive a text message with the free number to dial into.

The service from foonz is free, though you'll still need to pay for your minutes used on your cell phone. New users will need to enter in the phone numbers of those they'd like to invite, so it's best to set up a foonz account online prior to utilizing the mobile service. In addition, all participants will need a cell phone handy in order to receive the phone number, so adding an email option for inviting people to the conference call would be helpful.

Most recently, Foonz has added delivery confirmation to its mass messaging option. 3jam, another mobile company enabling group communication tools, has received $4 million in funding.
