One million photos have been uploaded to Foursquare since the New York-based startup began allowing iPhone and Android users to upload photos to the service.

Foursquare tweeted earlier today that it had passed the 1 million mark over the weekend, along with a link to the 1 millionth photo, which was uploaded on Sunday.

The new feature, which was included as part of an update released in late December, enables users to attach photos to checkins, tips and venues. Users were also given the ability to add comments to the checkins of their friends as part of the update, opening up new levels of interactivity to the location-based social network.
