Foursquare sent a tweet on Monday announcing that users who send their check-ins to Facebook will now be able to see them on their Facebook Timeline maps.
Until now, Facebook could only see check-ins done through Facebook or Instagram on their Facebook Timeline maps. Going forward, they'll be able to see Foursquare check-ins as well, meaning all the restaurants and businesses you frequent will be added as pins to the map on your Facebook page.
Check-ins made in the past have automatically been updated to the map.
Good news, Facebookers! The foursquare check-ins you share to Facebook will now be sitting pretty on your Timeline Map. bit.ly/JYukBz— foursquare (@foursquare) May 14, 2012
The news has been well-received so far. Many people took to social-networking sites to cheer on the announcement with comments such as "finally!" though some expressed annoyance that the feature hadn't been available earlier: "the way it should've been from the start."
Foursquare, which boasts more than 20 million users, has been working on a variety of new features, such as launching a redesigned app in July that allows merchants to buy placement for their promotions. Although the service allows businesses to promote specials on their venue pages, a spokesperson told Mashable that it will offer promoted placement of deals within the app itself and other premium features.
