While Foursquare certainly isn't the first mobile app to let you check-in at venues and find out where your friends are, it is one of the only apps to actually bake gameplay and location-based deals into the mix.

Given the challenge of pre-populating enough hot spots for cities across the world, Foursquare's policy has always been to start with the metropolitan hubs and add in new cities based on demand. So for those of you feeling left out of the Foursquare court, we've got some pretty exciting news — Foursquare just added 15 new cities, 2 of which are in Canada. We've listed each of the 15 new places below, but we're happy to report that cities like St. Louis, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and Montreal can now get in on the game.

Co-founder Dennis Crowley tell us that they're just trying to keep up with consumer demand, and "launch more and more cities as we hustle to rewrite a lot of our infrastructure," and also notes, "We roll out cities in batches because it makes it more manageable - both for technical and customer support scaling issues."

Still not happy with the selection of cities? You can request that they add yours here.
