The Republican presidential debates have been a ratings bonanza, and Tuesday night was no different.

Fox Business drew around 13.5 million viewers, according to data from the network based on Nielsen ratings. The number easily set a record as the most-watched program in the channel's eight-year history. On top of that, the network hit 1.4 million simultaneous steams online.

The Fox Business debate kept pace with CNBC's most recent debate, which attracted around 14 million viewers.

That's a big moment for Fox Business, which has struggled to generate much in the way of significant ratings. Its 2015 has been better, boasting its best July ever. Still, it only averages 83,000 viewers, well behind CNBC's 215,000. That's in part due to the fact that Fox Business is n 20% fewer households than CNBC.
