Fox is joining ABC and NBC in trying out some new tactics for jump starting the new fall line-up this season.
The television network has signed a deal with iTunes to distribute 7 of its Fox Broadcasting season premier programs for free. The shows will be available this week. Some of the free premiers include "Prison Break," "American Dad," "K-Ville" and "Bones." This is a way to not only compete with the other broadcast networks, but a way to better leverage the Internet audience that's getting quite comfortable with watching video content online.
ABC has already penned a deal with AOL, while NBC and CBS will be distributing content ahead of time or for free online as well. It seems as though all the major networks have made a made a mad dash to complete their fall line up Internet strategy. We'll see how much this tactic actually helps the television industry in the way it's hoping for.
