LONDON – Spotting a sleeping fox during the daytime is tricky enough in London, but the one seen Thursday in Notting Hill didn't seem too bothered about keeping itself hidden.

The townhouse-conquering mammal was seen napping on the second-floor window ledge of a place in Elgin Crescent by local residents.

Author and editor Rachel Johnson, sister of London Mayor Boris Johnson, was credited by the Evening Standard as the original fox-spotter.

“It must have got up via the scaffolding on the house next door," she told the Standard. "People were coming out of their houses with telephoto cameras - but luckily no-one decided to shoot it! It was rather a sitting duck there on the ledge."

“There are lots of them in the neighbourhood, always in the gardens - they seem to own the place. But when I saw this one it was hard to feel the same sense of rage," said Johnson.
