Life gave you lemons. So what kind of intricately structured tower are you going to make out of them?

Saturday is the first day of the annual Lemon Festival -- the Fête du Citron -- in Menton, France, which is now in its 83rd year. The installations are already standing in all their citrus glory in the town's park, Jardins Biovès. About 240,000 people typically head there to view the regal fruit sculptures, which include both lemons and oranges.

The masterpieces are composed of more than 290,000 pounds of fruit; the theme for this year's festival is "Cinecittà," a nod to the legacy of Italian film. The structures are almost exact replicas of scenes from Fellini's La Dolce Vita and Amarcord, as well as Pierotti and Tourjansky's Cleopatra, among others.

Vitamin C is clearly having a great year so far.
